Splitting a File by Contours

Some files contain several distinct shapes that you may want to handle individually. The Split by contour action separates a single file into multiple files, one per contour.

When to Use It

• Your file contains objects that can be split because they are not vertically uniform.
• You want to assign different parts of the same file to different machines.

Splitting a File

1. Go to the Files tab on the left.
2. Right-click the file you want to split.
3. Select Split by contour.

Each contour becomes its own file, which you can then rename, position, assign to a machine and configure independently.

Note

Splitting is most useful for files that clearly contain several separate shapes. A single continuous object will not be split into meaningful parts.
