Seam Positions

The seam is the point where each printed layer starts and ends. Because every layer begins and finishes at this location, it forms a faint vertical line up the side of your part. The Seam Positions tool lets you choose where that line falls.

  • Hide the seam on a less visible side of your part for a cleaner finish.
  • Keep the seam consistent and vertical from bottom to top.
  • Improve continuity between layers (especially useful with the Semi-spiralized and Spiralized printing modes — see Print Settings).
  1. In the project header, activate Seam positions mode.
  2. Click on the surface of the model where you want the seam to be.
  3. A vertical seam line appears on the part, showing where each layer will start.

To leave Seam positions mode, press Escape or select another mode.
